Creative Competition 2015/16

Closing date Friday 18th March 2016

This Is My Home

Show Racism the Red Card is celebrating the 12th year of the anti-racism/anti-sectarianism creative competition.

The competition is your opportunity to make a stand against racism and/or sectarianism. 2015 has been an exciting year at Show Racism the Red Card. In July we launched a series of short film s entitled ‘This Is My Home’ exploring the issues of immigration and racism from the point of view of Scotland’s migrant community. We have themed the competition this year ‘This Is My Home’ and it gives young people an opportunity to have their voices heard on a very current issue.

You can view the short films here http://www.theredcard.org/thisismyhome

With the theme in mind we would like you to develop a piece of creative work that get across clear messages of anti-racism or anti-sectarianism and celebrates diversity in Scotland’s communities.

It could be:

·            Artwork

·            Poetry

·            Short Story

·            Creative writing

·            Music

·            Dance/Drama performance

·            Research project

·            Multimedia presentation

In fact it could be anything that is creative, inspirational and stimulated by an anti-racism or anti-sectarianism message.

Entries are welcome from both individuals and groups. Finalists will be invited to a star-studded awards ceremony at Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park to receive public acclaim for their work and receive superb prizes.

Having gathered feedback from teachers who have participated in recent years we have moved the closing date for entries.

The closing date for entries is Friday 18th March 2015

This is a great opportunity to work with Show Racism the Red Card to show that young people are serious about making Scotland a fair and inclusive society – we hope that you will be part of it.

“I believe that to eradicate racism from society we have to educate people from a young age and that’s why I am delighted to be ambassador for SRtRC Scotlands ‘Creative Competition’ for a third year.

The competition gives schools and colleges the opportunity to have fun and be creative whilst learning and spreading a strong message ‘Show Racism the Red Card’. After the quality and understanding I have seen over the last two years I am looking forward to seeing all your great work again this year.” – Liam Craig, Competition Ambassador and St Johnstone FC player
