Racism gets the boot from pupils

Children from Glasgow's primary schools joined forces to kick out racism.

The pupils took part in the Show Racism the Red Card football coaching sessions at the Kelvin Hall.

Racism gets the boot from pupilsStrathclyde Police organised the event with former Rangers and Celtic stars passing on coaching tips to the youngsters.

St Patrick's, Anderston, Kelvinhaugh, Garnetbank, Willowbank, St Aloysius and the Gaelic Primary schools took part in the event before being awarded medals.

Police gave information and advice to pupils about dealing with racism before the football gala.

PC Stephanie Rose from Anderston police station said: "Children in this part of the city are fortunate to be growing up in an area which is rich with cultural diversity.

"This project aims to encourage kids to appreciate one another and get to know each other better."
