Billy Bragg - Hope Not Hate - Live in Edinburgh
Show
Racism the Red Card joined Billy Bragg on the Edinburgh date of his Hope
Not Hate tour.
The Usher Hall was almost sold out for tonight's gig. Stationed next
to the merchandise stall we did a fast trade in providing the masses with
posters of their teams.
Billy Bragg live is always an experience, guitar driven songs coupled
with Bragg's infamous satirical humour pepper the night. Ian McLagan of
the Small Faces and the Faces joined him on stage. McLagan's keyboard
playing was a great accompaniment to Braggs guitar playing. Together they
did a show-stopping version of Booker T and the MGs' Green Onions. Other
favourites included World Turned Upside Down, Levi Stubbs Tears, Waiting
for the Great Leap Forwards and There is Power in a Union. The gig came
to an end with a cover of Kirsty Macoll's New England.
As the crowd poured out of the hall, the fired up audience inundated
us with requests for posters and resources. All in all, it was a good
night.
