Livingston Football Club In The Community in partnership with Show Racism the Red Card and Glasgow Ansar
Livingston Football Club have forged a new Partnership with Show Racism the Red Card and Glasgow Ansar in order to promote a unique Summer Football Coaching Programme for budding young Footballers. Livingston FC's state of the art field turf facility will provide the venue where children from different cultures and backgrounds will come together for a full week in order to hone their footballing skills in a safe environment where the emphasis will be on Football Fun!
Glasgow Ansar was originally formed to provide a much needed sporting
platform for ethnic minority youths in Glasgow , although such was the
popularity of the group, that it is now no longer restricted to ethnic
minorities and has members from a wide cross-section of the community.
Some of these youngsters will journey to Almondvale with ambitions of
forming a new generation of Scottish-born BME (Black and Minority Ethnic)
players performing in the Scottish Premier League; and Livingston FC's
coaches and scouts will be there to ensure that the most talented young
hopefuls are guided on to the correct pathways.
Livingston
FC's Manager Paul Lambert praised the initiative. He said:
"This is a great opportunity for children of all backgrounds to come along
and feel part of the Livingston family for a week. Hopefully the players
will enjoy the Almondvale experience and will continue to support the
team as they develop their skills and their love of the game. The Youth
set-up is a major component of the Club, and those players who show the
correct calibre could take their first steps on the development path through
this course at Livingston FC."
Show Racism the Red Card's Scotland Co-ordinator Roddy McNulty added:
"Livingston FC have been one of the strongest supporters of the
anti-racism campaign. It came as no surprise that they wanted to be the
first professional club in Scotland to launch this joint venture. With
excellent facilities and coaching personnel, it is the perfect environment
in which to identify and nurture young BME talent.
SRTRC are confident this scheme will lead to a new generation of Scottish-born BME players playing first team football in the Scottish Premier league - we might even unearth a new Thierry Henry at Almondvale"
