Hearts FC / SRTRC Anti-racism seminar

The Red Card panel at TynecastleThe Gorgie Suite, Tynecastle Stadium

SRTRC headed out for another trip to Heart of Midlothian FC for what turned out to be another great event. Over 120 local school kids from Gorgie Primary, Dalry Primary, Tynecastle High and Gracemount School to name but a few, were invited to view the new Scottish video and to ask questions on the problems of racism in football and society to the panel. Hearts star Jamie McAllister and goalie keeper Steve Banks came along and were immediately inundated with requests for autographs and photos!

The screening of the video was followed by a very interesting question and answer session, with questions being handled well by the panel members! A signed Hearts football was raffled off and won by a lucky girl from Dalry Primary.

The players signed autographsHearts have been one of the biggest supporters of the campaign since its inception in Scotland in November 2003. This close working partnership was acknowledged by Imran as he thanked the club, and in particular Communications Manager Clare Cowan, for all their hard work and dedication in ridding the game of the problems of racism. All the school kids were treated to a SRTRC goody bag and had the chance to have their Hearts squad photos signed by the players (including a few by Councillor Kerr!)
