13th December 2006St Johnstone show racism the red cardMembers of the Perth & Kinross Racist Incident Multi-Agency Panel (RIMAP) have joined forces with the local branch of UNISON to sponsor the St Johnstone FC Show Racism the Red Card squad poster. The poster will be distributed to schools, community care establishments and other outlets across Perth & Kinross, and they will also be available for fans at St Johnstone's home game against Clyde on Boxing Day. Chair of RIMAP, Alan Nairn said "All the agencies represented on RIMAP aim to promote the reporting of racist incidents, to ensure accurate monitoring and reviewing of racist incidents across Perth and Kinross and to respond and provide appropriate support to victims of racist incidents. A poster campaign such as this enables us to raise awareness that racism will not be tolerated in Perth and Kinross. "Anyone in Perth & Kinross who wishes to report a racist incident can do so by contacting one of the agencies involved in the multi-agency panel - Perth & Kinross Council, Tayside Police, NHS Tayside, Perth Citizens' Advice Bureau or Victim Support." Anyone who would like a copy of the poster should contact Perth & Kinross Council on 01738 476782. Perth and Kinross UNISON branch Equality and Communications Officer, Hamid Rasheed, said: "UNISON is happy to be part of the campaign to raise awareness on race issues. We need to stop discrimination in its tracks in the workplace and the communities we proudly serve." Source: RIMAP |
